I’m in Ohio also straight wall cartridge stare. Where are you I see your name on a lot of posts. Are you in Ohio too? Like minded dudes gotta stick together
Love the 350 legend so far. Recoil is almost unnoticeable. I’m not sure if I like it more than my 450 bushmaster yet. The bush master is a real deer stomper. I bought the 350 Legend in the Franchi Moment. It is very accurate. I currently live in Colorado but we are moving back east to Ohio,Cincinnati area. We own a farm about two hours east of Cincinnati not far from Chillicothe. Between Athens and Jackson. Yes like minded people should stick together.
I live in Milford, oh. Shout out when you get out here. Maybe go do some shooting or something
Wow! We just there looking at houses in Milford. Also in Batavia, Maineville and a few others. Yes we should do that.
Are there good shooting ranges in your area? What distance can you shoot?
Hmmm there is a good 100 yard range by Caesar’s creek about 30 min drive 20 bucks a year run by the state. To go long range it’s like 1.5 hour drive east of Columbus can go out to a mile there. Locally most ranges are memberships. Long waiting list.
Ok. Better than nothing. Spoiled out here with shooting ranges. One mile range near in back yard.
I have 3 kids, 2 daughters and a son. My oldest is 18, middle is 16 and my son is 13. My oldest daughter shot her first shotgun at about 9 years old (I am more of a bird hunter but do deer hunt a lot) and shot her first deer at 11. My other 2 have always been very noise sensitive and did not want anything to do with guns. My 16 daughter still does not care at all about shooting or going with me (she will sit in a bow stand with me) but my son has come around. He shot his first shotgun at 11 and killed his first duck on that trip. He was always nervous around rifles but last fall at 13 he shot his first deer. My advice would be if you have a noise sensitive child, start as slow as possible. shoot a BB gun, a 22 but do not push them. let them come to it. I am finally getting a suppressor now and should have done it before but good head phones and small guns is the way to start. I am so glad that I did not push my son. I believe I would have ruined him had I pushed him when he was 8,9 and 10 years old. He was very aware of his anxiety and was embarrassed about it. His friends had started hunting and he really had a lot of stress about it. Had I pushed him at that time I truly believe he would not ever have done it. I know we all want to take our kids and get them into the sport we love but be as patient as you need to be. I love hunting with my kids and just being in the woods with my daughter that still does not shoot. I have also become more involved in the things that she likes to do and those activities with her as much as possible. Hope this helps.
I started at age 5 with my father. I was just tagging along. He used to tell me as I got a bit older that I was a better hunting partner because I did not complain about hiking like his other hunting buddies.
I first took my son bow hunting at 10. He went with me deer hunting at 11 this past year and helped me drag, dress, and process it.
He wasn’t ready to go with me until last year though, mostly because of stamina, and 5-10mi a day it takes to find the deer where we were in Eastern Oregon. We hunt on public land, so really have to get away from the roads and “easy walking” areas to get into quality game.
He has been shooting pellet guns and 22s since about 6y old.
He is starting to practice on a .243 hand me down from his great uncle, so he can hopefully harvest his own this fall.
