For those with units, if there are any product improvements that you want to submit to the product improvement team here’s the link to the submission form.
I have 2 ordered through my Garmin friend. Saves me a bunch of money. He is told 5-8 week backorder but expects sooner. I was close to getting the FX unit.
Got mine in today. Took it to the range and shot about 20 rounds of suppressed rifle with it.
Picked up and recorded every shot without having to deal with any weird things because of the suppressor.
Love the size and form factor compared to everything else. Also menu is extremely intuitive and easy to use.
I make and sell a recoil trigger for the Labradar… that said, I would never buy one over this. I’ve taken my Garmin out three times now. It’s captured every shot! Worth every penny. I got mine for $540 at Cabela’s. I bought this thinking I could 3D print and sell accessories for it, but I can’t think of anything extra it needs. It just works as it is.
Why is labradar your recommendation on the reloading page if you hate it? I just bought a labradar based on your recommendation and now I’ll have to pay to return it and buy this Garmin.
That’s my mistake Erik. The LabRadar has been annoying for many years but still the best there was. I’ve long complained about it publicly but still recommended it because there wasn’t a more user-friendly option that was as accurate.
This Garmin chronograph is only a few WEEKS old. I forgot to update that page.
Please let me pay for your return. It’s my fault. Send me a receipt to info.backfire@gmail.com and I’ll pay it.
I somehow ran across a guy selling a sun shield for them on FB. Supposed to make it easier to read in the sun as it shades the screen. Seemed like a good deal. He actually sends itnwithout a payment and says send we $12 if you like it! Got one on the way!
Just snagged one at Cabelas w/10% military discount. The Go Hunt store has them in stock as well!
One thing to be aware of. When you first take it out of the box, charge it up. It’s best to go ahead and install the app on your phone, sync the chronograph and the app together, then do any software update it’s asking you to do.
This happened to me, as well as members of other online communities that have used this device. If you don’t update it when you first get it, it may ask for an update in the middle of your first range session. When it does this there’s no choice but to tell it okay. You won’t lose any data but whatever you’ve collected at that point will get put into a session by itself. If you keep shooting you would have to manually add data sets together.
Interestingly enough, since that initial update mine has done some additional updates. However it’s allowed me to postpone those updates and keep collecting data and shooting. I guess that’s part of what the initial update did.
Thank you Carter, helpful as always. Now, can you find me some Federal Primers ![]()
Just make sure you check for updates before each shooting session. Mine was up to date the last time I shot. Today I was mid string when I happened to glance at my Garmin and notice that it was asking me if I wanted to update the firmware. It will allow you to postpone and continue firing but it had stopped recording shots the whole time it had that prompt on the screen. It didn’t record like 5 shots for me because I don’t look at the screen after every shot. ![]()
Eric, how much was it?
I paid full price at $599 plus tax back in December because everyone was backordered and there were no deals to be had.
