Ruger American in 7 mm PRC

What caliber is your grandson shooting?

7mm PRC, HIS rifle is a American, go wild

Ok you sold me. I took the plunge on the 7 PRC Go Wild with the Athlon Helos. So what was his load up? Powder type grains and bullet?

7mm PRC
ELD-X 175
Winchester StaBall HD 69.5 grains
Seating -.045 off Lands, it likes a little bullet jump.

I know there’s a debate on both sides of barrel break in and I didn’t see where Ruger called for a break in procedure. I erred on the conservative side and did a break in procedure I have used that Nosler published.
I really don’t know if it makes a difference or not, I didn’t want to decide on a load and then have it change later because it finally got broken in.

thanks for your help!

I have a howa 1500 in 7prc and I was getting about 1.5ā€ groups @ 100 yards with factory Hornady ammo right out of the box.

I have two Vanguards, one is the old Vanguard with a beautiful wooden stock in 30-06. The other is a newer synthetic model in .223. Both are very accurate and group well out to 300 yards. Actually I’ve never shot them beyond 300. I’ve taken about a dozen elk with the 30-06 over the years, and I’ve never had to shoot one twice! For a factory rifle, you’d be hard pressed to beat a Weatherby.
