Seekins PH3 opinions

I have 3 carbon Rogues and a Mtn Reaper. The rogue is awesome. The reaper I love the idea of, it’s my newest, I’m just not quite sure if the chassis is my thing. I kind of like the traditional hunting stock better. May just take some getting used to though.

My first chassis, I instantly regretted buying it. But the more I shot it, the more it grew on me. I have a couple now, I really like them. Much easier to make a chassis fit me than a traditional stock.

That’s good to hear. I have moments when I think I really like it. Then moments where I think I want to sell it. It’s such an expensive rifle, I want to love it or buy something else.

I hear good things about fierce and the carbon barrels… but there twisted metal barrels have had some horror stories-see below

After seeing a video this spring about the new Seekins PH3 I knew I wanted to get one. However I wasn’t sold on the caliber options listed as there are 7 that I have no interest in. So I reached out to the custom shop asking if they will make a rifle in a different caliber or if I had to order one in a caliber they already offered. I wanted a 30-06 and was also interested in a .375H&H Magnum as I’d like to do an Africa hunt.

They got back to me within like a day and told me they are actually going to be offering a PH3 in .375 H&H. No luck on the 30-06. But they shared with me this list of what you can get a custom rifle in and the .280 Ackley is on it.

Still haven’t purchased my Seekins but it’s up next on my list for this fall.

Regarding the Weatherby Alpine ST, I literally just picked mine up at the FFL yesterday and it is a sweet rifle. I got mine in the .280 AI. Can’t wait to get a scope on it and take it to the range. I liked it so much I jumped on Weatherby’s site and started building a custom Weatherby 307 Alpine ST in a different caliber that I’d like to get.

That’s great news! Thanks for posting. The addition of the 7mm-08 and the 280ai is definitely welcome. Neither of those was on the list a couple of years ago when I contacted them. Glad to hear they are being more responsive to their customers. Do agree that a 30-06 would be great to have too.

A little surprised to see the 6.8 Western on there though. They used to have that as a production chambering but don’t offer that in the regular line now at all

Awesome information, can’t wait to hear what you think once you get to shoot your new 280 AI

I got a very different reply than you did, when inquiring about a 280 AI. See below. It also took them nine days to respond, which I was pretty blown away by. I’ve contacted them a few times and their customer service has been pretty slow at best, especially when comparing to my experiences with fierce.

I have what you’re considering; PH3 6.5PRC 24” …Love every bit of it! Amazing machining, great accuracy, and the people there are incredible (helpful and fast on every one of my many questions while I waited 8 months for her to arrive, haha). Haven’t heard or read of a regretful PH3 buyer yet!

Has anyone heard from Seekins as to when they will offer replacement barrels for their newer quick change models?

No idea, they don’t have any on their site, which is odd, since they advertised that so heavily as part of their new system.

Is your new PH3 the standard one or did you get the element? If not the element, how heavy is it? May still order one in 7prc. Nobody seems to dislike them.

My newest one is an element. I’ve also got a couple of older elements (prior generation). I wanted a ph3, but I could never find one in the right chambering with the right barrel length.

Thus, if they ever do release some barrels, I might switch out to the pH Style barrel.

Yeah it does seem weird that the whole switch Barrel thing is one of their big selling points and yet it’s completely useless without barrels available
