A few months ago I met a guy who owns a smal range near by who also does work for AB. He had some amazing gear, hand made scopes from March and more. When I pulled out my Vortex Furys he told me right off to sell them and buy the Vectronix Vector X (when available). So I’ve been looking at those… and I can’t believe the features. Especially the Range Enhancers.
Lately I have be looking in to the SIIG Zulu 6 IS binos and I am blown away by them as well.
For those of you who are in the know and into hunting tech, is a combo of AB/Rangefinder/IS with Range Enhancers on the horizon? It would seem to be the ultimate backcountry all purpose bino. 10x42 that build to 14 or 15x42 that is IS and does all the AB ranging.
I’m by no means someone who knows alot about this, but from the chatter I have heard on this subject, WEIGHT/BATTERY is the biggest thing manufacturers are trying to solve for this combo. I have also heard that some manufacturers are reluctant to work on this type of technology because it would eliminate many of their different product offerings. This DOES seem like the natural next evolution though, and I would also be interested in a binos with all of these features.
I just got back from a Sig event where I got to see all their new stuff for the year. Nothing new from their binos. But their image stabilization is great.
I love having rangefinding in the binos. That’s the only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger on the sigs.
I’ve stopped using a rangefinder as well. Right now, I’ve got the Furys with the Applied Ballistics. I previously had the Sig Kilo6k’s which were pretty good but I’m not a fan of Sig’s warranty on their electronics so I sold them. The 5 year warranty actually starts on the date of manufacture, not the day you purchase.
Agree…Imagine the item sits on a shelf for 2 years before you buy it. It may not be a huge deal for a $150 red dot, but when you spend $1,200 on a set of rangefinding bino’s you want to be fully protected.
