At 40 yrs old, I finally got my first deer. My dad didn’t like deer meat so we stuck to dove and quail growing up, but last year my two older boys and I went out with my father-in-law and my 11 yr old got his first buck and they caught the fever so we jumped head first into it all. Big thanks to the Backfire channel and community for helping me get up to speed quickly!

What animal is next on the list?

Thanks. I’ve always wanted to get into it, I just couldn’t justify the expense until the kids got interested and it’s something we could do together.
As far as what’s next on the list…anything really. As you know, out west (I’m in Nevada) tags can be a little hard to come by but I’d be tickled pink to draw a pronghorn or elk. Until then we’ll go back to Texas every year for white tail and mule deer to keep the freezer stocked and the wall decorated.
