I have a 2020 way point in 6.5 prc. In shooting it I have found it will not chamber Hornady ammo. The bolt will not close on the hunter or the match, but other brands will chamber, I have tried Nosler and Bergar. They both work. Should I send the gun back, or just shoot one of the other brands? With the ammo that will chamber I am getting average groups… right at 1moa. Is something wrong with the gun? Is this problem unusual? I HATE sending guns back to the factory. I have had poor luck doing that in the past.

Hm. That is a CONSTANT issue with the PRC line of ammo/guns. It’s great to have tight tolerances, but if anything is off AT ALL, it won’t go.

If you haven’t used one before, you basically just drop one of those Hornady cartridges in the gauge. If it fits, then you know it’s an issue with the chamber of the rifle being too tight somewhere. If it doesn’t fit, then you know you just have some bad ammo.

My immediate first thought was, the shoulder too tight or O.A.L into the lands. Check head space. Hornady head space tool and calipers needed. Once you fire form you can measure head space for your chamber.
It must be a chamber issue with the rifle. 6.5 prc gauge says ammo is correct. I am sending the rifle back to Springfield…

Man I am sorry to hear that. I have a 308 waypoint and it is a tack driver no issues. I hope Springfield takes care of you will follow to see what happens.
Dang that sucks I just got my springfield in yesterday and haven’t had a chance to try it out yet… hopefully I will have better luck than you did

My 2020 Waypoint just came back from Springfield. Nothing has changed, it still won’t chamber Hornady ammo. I assume they did not take the time to see if what they did (if anything) fixed the problem. The bolt will not close with Hornady eldx ammo… I’m very disappointed with Springfield… but what can I do? Shipping it back to them today.
That’s bull crap!! I hope I don’t that that problem with mine. I’ve tried bergers and they seem to chamber fine.
