Now that the BBB has officially moved supressors off of the tax stamp, can we now buy/sell supressor second hand? Does anyone know, and if so can you explain why/why not?
TIA.

The only thing that has changed is that the value of the stamp is now $0. You have to still go through the entire process to get the stamp though. Therefore, still have to get fingerprinted, background check, etc, etc. Therefore, don’t see secondhand purchasing becoming a thing at all.
My big question is, are we really going to have a run on suppressors now? Everyone’s been predicting that saying that once the tax goes to zero everybody and their brother is going to be buying one. However, how much of a burden really was the $200? Is that what really kept people from purchasing them, or is it state and local laws, as well as the fact that people don’t want to go through the whole registration process? Curious to see what happens
Thanks Cater.
Personally, I am waiting to see if they rule the process unconstiutional since it was validated by the tax. With that gone, it seems like the process should also go.
I have a omega 300 I wanted to sell to in a friend, he lives in another state, with all the transfer fees just to sell it to him it was cheaper for him to buy a new one without the fees from a dealer. I was going to have to take my can to a class 3 dealer so they could transfer it to another class 3 dealer to do the paperwork etc… just over $150 in fees
Yeah, I should have mentioned I’m curious as to what’s going to happen with all those court cases myself. When is the next big step in these?
hadn’t thought of that - good question
my POV = I didn’t care for the tax but found the Mother-may-I and registration much more egregious. I don’t have one. want several. might get one this year or next but might not. can’t count on Congress to fix this despite the best efforts of a few solid Reps, so have to rely on FPC et al to prevail in the courts…a slow & questionable process.
