22 creedmoor availability…

Just saw Jim’s video on the 22 CM—it does look like an interesting cartridge and one I would definitely like to try for deer hunting (would be the lightest bullet I have used for that purpose though I know some folks do hunt with lighter).

Does anyone know how long after approval it takes budget-friendly manufacturers like Ruger, Savage, CVA, etc. to crank out rifles chambered for it? Or is there a cheaper way to get a jump start experimenting with this cartridge vs. buying one of those crazy pricy Horizon guns? Like if I have a short action Remington 700 or Bergara I am not using and I wanted to change the chambering/barrel out, is that feasible? What kind of budget would I be looking at? Is it better to just wait for factory guns to come out?

Realistically I wouldn’t expect volume manufacturers to jump on this until Fall 2024 if ever.

What I couldn’t say in that video per YouTube’s rules is that Hornady will only be producing ammo for 22 Creed exclusively through Horizon. It won’t be on your sportsman’s warehouse shelves. YouTube won’t allow me to say WHERE to buy ammo.

So it could be that big gun manufacturers and other ammo manufacturers will jump on this, but my guess is that it remains somewhat niche.
