I’m not personally familiar with Altus. But they are using Bartlein, CRB, and Proof blanks so should be a good product. And the Impact 737r action is great. I put my 6 dasher in an MDT ACC Elite chassis and I love it. Are you wanting a heavy weight comp gun?
I have an MDT ACC Elite that has been sitting in inventory for a bit so I can sell it for $500 off. MDT ACC Elite Chassis System – Backfire Use coupon code acc500 if you want the discount. I only have one so first come first served
You basically forced me to buy it!!! I have never used MDT because I have never built a rifle before. The entire reason I joined was to see your course on building your own rifle from parts. So, THANK YOU!
I called Altus and the barreled action will drop right in.
Does that chassis have a folding stock? Of course you can always add one if it doesn’t. That will give you a lot of flexibility and make the rifle a lot more maneuverable regardless of barrel length.
That being said, unless you’re just trying to eek out the absolute maximum velocity, 24 in would probably be my preference.
I thought I would share the finished product from Altus barreled action with Timney "The hit’ trigger set at 8 oz. I have to say I am already in love with the trigger pull never having used a light trigger before. Topped it with a Vortex Razor HD LHT 4.5-22 x 50 and Ultra 7 suppressor. I already had the MDT bipod but will likely search for another more stable one if anyone has suggestions. I really love Elite Iron Revolution bipods but it won’t work for this build. Thanks again to Jim for the awesome chassis.
I have 4 different ones based on the type of shooting. I have the tall f class one that pans and tilts, love it for bench rest. The narrow tall and short version that tilts and the intermediate width one tall I use for prs. Love them all. Mine are all arca but they offer both mounting ooptions
This week’s big game hunting podcast with John McAdams discusses the 25 Creedmoor. Haven’t made it all the way through yet but pretty good so far.
Also found it interesting that Weatherby now makes a rifle for this in their Mark 5 Deluxe model. And interesting combination of old school look with new school cartridge
