.35 caliber hunting rifle

I live in a straight wall state, but notice the rules changed at some point. They will allow bottle neck cartridge as long as it is between .35 Caliber & .50 caliber and at least 500 ft/lbs of energy with an expanding type bullet.
What cartridge and rifle would you build or buy?

35 Whelen would be at the top of my list. I’d just rebarrel a Tikka or Bergara.

ditto on 35 whelen. If you reload you can do so for less expense and can have some hot bullets that will thump. I am going to use for the bison hunt. Great for elk and bear. Certainly deer but not needed. Not a super long range but good out to 300 and maybe a bit more, which is where most of
is should be for hunting. Round depending you will be about 2700 ft lbs over 500 minimum requirement. Yes. 3200 ft lbs of muzzle energy. And it uses 30-06 brass of which there is not shortage.

.358 winchester is also a thing that exists.

from the sounds of it the 358 Win might be more inline. The 358Win to the 35 Whelen is like the 308 to 06. Literally. 308 necked up vs 06 necked up
