Longest shot taken on our land was a mule deer at 467 yards.
Id like to switch over to copper.
What can I test out to about 500 yards? I cant see myself taking anything longer, and after 500 yards, theyre back in deep bush.
What will put the slam on a deer between 300 and 500 yards thats full.copper?
I’ve been impressed with the Barnes TSX/ ttsx on deer around here but at much shorter ranges than what you’re typically talking about.
I have a family member who does shoot the lrx in a 6.5 PRC and has had good results from it. I’ve loaded some of that up and haven’t had a chance to shoot anything other than targets with it yet.
The big thing you have to keep in mind with these is that you need to have a velocity of at least 1800 to 2,000 ft per second at impact for the TSX and 1600 to 1800 ft per second for the lrx. Need to enter all that into a ballistics calculator for your particular chambering and see what you get.
