6.5 creedmore plus peak

Spent a whole 90 minutes watching the latest Vortex Nation pod since it had some guys from Federal on and the topic was +Peak and the 6.5CM. Worth the watch:

but somethings they said really got me thinking. First they broke down why the Peak tech doesn’t transfer pressure and energy into the action and why it doesn’t cause more barrel wear.

But there later they stated getting into what’s next. They talked about the 338 Federal and the 308 Win. And that really got me thinking, especially since they say the action doesn’t get effected by the higher pressure cartridge. Could I rebarrel my 30-06 to a 7BC? I wanted that to be asked, but it wasn’t. So I emailed Federal directly this question:

"Topic: expertVoice

Comment: I am trying to find Federal’s official stance on whether a Long Action 270 or 30-06 can be re-barreled to a 7 BC. I keep finding conflicting information on this topic. I have a 10 year old Savage 116 chambered in 30-06, can I re-barrel it to a 7BC?"

and just got this answer:

"Ben,

*Thank you for contacting us. Yes, a standard action 30-06 or .270 or any standard-length action rifle sharing that same bolt face can be re-barreled to a 7mmBackcountry. *

Thanks

Federal
BB"

I know that Short Action Customs already turned a 6.5CM +Peak to a 6CM +Peak. This means wildcatting on the +Peak is going to quickly become a thing.

Hello 25CM +Peak.

I really think I might try to re-barrel my 30-06 to a 7BC since is a Savage and I can easily change it back.
