Anyone here have a reload that’s similar or better than precision hunter. This ammo shoots really well thru my Springfield 2020 and I’d like to have a starting point to try and replicate. Thanks
Depending on what powder you have on hand, this is what Hodgdon’s site recommends for the 143gr Precision Hunter.
Here is my load for 6.5 Creedmoor
41.0 gr of IMR 4350
143 gr Hornady ELD-X
CCI BR-2 Large Rifle Primers
2.780" OAL
2,548 FPS average
I was looking for the same thing as you, just to replicate the Precisions Hunter rounds. When I got my 6.5 Sig Cross I bought a box of Precision Hunter just to chronograph. I got 2531 FPS average.
I also worked up a load with Varget and H4350. 36.4 gr of Varget at max load only gave me 2482 FPS and 41.2 gr of H4350 gave me 2524 FPS. I shot a bunch of H4350 vs IMR 4350, and every time the IMR shot slightly better groups out of my rifle. At 100 yards, 0.84" average groups (0.5" best) with IMR and 1.10" average groups (0.5") with H4350. 4 shot groups.
I’ve found the sweet spot for my tikka has been
40.5 grains H4350
CCI BR-2 LR (or CCI 200 or Federal 210) can’t be picky nowadays lol
143 grain ELD-x
2.16” BTO
Appreciate both of your input. Great place to start.
What velocity with that powder?
