I have a 2020 Waypoint that I have not had a chance to shoot yet. I need a spot where I can reach out to 200 yds to sight my scope. Any how I was listening to Jim’s #10 podcast, and he was discussing the PRC family of ammo and their potential pressure problems. I am not a re-loader so its factory Hornady ammo that I have a supply of. My question is how do you know if your gun has an issue with overpressure in the chamber? What markings, if any are you looking for in the spent casing? What else am I missing?
Check out “courses” on the Backfire menu, Reloading 101, core skills, safety recognizing pressure signs.
As a very new reloader myself, I will say that recognizing primer flattening is a bit of a difficult thing. It’s really a three-dimensional skill, and looking at most pictures or videos on the internet can still leave you with some uncertainty.

Carter Childs gave a great answer here, but I just wanted to add that the #1 most common sign you’ll see is when you go to lift the bolt, it will be MUCH heavier than normal to lift it.
