6.5x55 Swede Rifle

I’ve started looking at picking up a modern rifle chambered in 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser. I already have a milsurp Swede and have always really liked the cartridge, so I’m thinking it would be a nice addition to the hunting stable.

I know Tikka/Sako offers rifles in 6.5x55, and I’ve looked at the Tikka T3x Lite. I’m just not particularly interested in the factory synthetic stock—it feels a little too light/flimsy for what I’m looking for. If I went that route, I’d probably have to factor a good aftermarket stock into the overall cost.

For those of you who hunt with a modern 6.5x55, what rifles are you using, and how have they worked out for you? I’d especially be interested in something with a more traditional or substantial stock and a good reputation for accuracy and reliability in the field.

Any particular makes/models you’d recommend looking at? Also interested in hearing what game you’ve used your 6.5x55 on and your general impressions of the rifle/cartridge combination.

I’ve got an older Sauer 202 in the Swede. It’s a beautiful old school rifle, gorgeous wooden stock. It’s a tac driver. Unfortunately I’ve never been able to get a animal worth shooting in front of it to see how well the Swede performs on game.
