Piet Milan at Impact Shooting hunts with the 6 Dasher and apparently loves it for smallish African Plains game and baboons. I think either one would be a lot of fun for Whitetail and down. Let us know what you decide!!!
I have been thinking about the same thing for a while now I will be very interested to hear people’s thoughts. For me its going to come down to availability of brass dies and probably reamers. I feel like you can’t lose either way. Oh, and if someone makes a factory hunting rifle in either of the cartridges that will probably also help the cause.
After watching Garret shoot the 6 Dasher in the last video, my thought went to rebarreling my 243, which is a great shooting gun. So I had ChatGPT dona compare contrast and what I came away with is that I am sticking with my 243 for now. Ammo availability and flexibility being the main reasons. 6 Dasher is thought to be the most consistently accurate of the 3, but it’s splitting hairs. I just will not be shooting out to 1000 with the 243 with the same results as I would with the 6 Dasher or GT.
Doubt you will see a significant performance difference between the two. The GT does have more case capacity, so that might help push a mono faster if you want to hunt with a mono. Not sure how much, Barnes does not have load data for either.
I’ve got a GT, Bergara Premier Competition. I chose GT for ability to find factory ammo, good feeding, and there were no Dashers available locally.
It’s pretty heavy with both a heavy barrel and heavy chassis. I’m debating getting a lightweight stock for it. I haven’t really seen Factory offerings for lightweight hunting rifles in the GT
The 6 GT was made for better feeding than the Dasher, but while it was being developed, better mags came out for the Dasher. I haven’t found feeding to be an issue at all.
I’m getting 2950fps with a 22” Dasher running a 105 Berger, and 3031fps in a 28” with the same load.
