7mm Backcountry—Accuracy?

I just ordered a Seekins PH3 in 7 BC. Usually I wouldn’t take the risk on a new cartridge this early, but you can swap bolts/barrels so I can revert to a 7 RM or a 7 PRC if need be. Anyone had any experience with BC accuracy in this platform or any others?

I just barely got this text from cameraman Garrett who took the 7 Backcountry out to test accuracy today.

“The gun shot pretty dang good. Average group size of .9 inches and one of the groups was .4 inches.”

This is the 16” Horizon Venatic Carbon with a prototype 175gr load from Federal.

Is that a current prototype for a load they have not announced yet? Or, is it one of the loads we already know about, just an early version of it?

I thought and thought a lot more about this particular round. The only way I would ever purchase a rifle and it would be something like a 16 or maybe 18-in version. Don’t really have a need for another 20 plus inch Magnum

Thanks, Jim. I’m not too worried because this is Seekins. They’ll fix it if it’s not grouping, but it is still reassuring that the round can be shot accurately.

The ammo we have is marked prototype on the boxes but I believe this is the final accepted version of the 175gr so it should be the same thing we get in commercial boxes in a few weeks on shelves.

Yeah, Seekins takes care of people. I think you’ll be happy.
