has anyone played with the 7mm creedmoor wildcat? Thinking about a new short barrel build to take advantage of the heavier 7mm bullets. My barrel length will be no more than 16".

Have you looked at 7 saw? It does really well with the 160s. For the 175 and above I really like the 7 SAUM. There are also the Sherman short and Sherman max which are optimized SAUM wildcats. I personally think you can get what you need out of the SAUM with just a longer freebore.
I would be interested in a 7CM wildcat with +Peak cartridges. Low recoil, maybe 2800 velo at barrel. High BCs. Short Action. Makes me wonder.
But just a 7CM, I would go another route.

Interesting. Would like to try one. My initial take is that it’d be pretty anemic. What would it offer over a 6.5 Creed? A slower, heavier bullet, but why?
I actually have been looking at the 7 SAW and the sherman short cartridges and they look much better for the intended use. Thanks for all of the comments.
I got a 7 saw barrel from straight jacket armory and it’s awesome. I have it on a coup de grâce action. It’s super accurate and consistent.
for taking larger game, right? wouldnt the larger diameter help with larger game? i am not much of a hunter, so i wouldnt know, but it makes logical sense to me.
love the idea , 7mm with more kick than the 7-08, but. less than a Saum, keeping recoil down some, just make 7mm-08 plus peak. Just throw a 7mm bullet into a plus peak and go. just thinking. if you could get 7 rem mag performance from a 7mm-08 plus peak without that heavy recoil. The plus peak could be a game changer
