7MM PRC Berger 180 VLD Starting Load

Hey guys, I’m fairly new to reloading and I’m looking to work up a load for my Fierce Mtn Reaper chambered in 7MM PRC. I’ve got either H1000 or H4831SC with Federal 210M primers. I’m shooting Berger 180Gr VLD bullets.

Have any of you had any luck with this setup? If so, any chance you could share what my starting load should be and what you’ve found success with? Also curious on seating depth so anything you could share would be much appreciated. I’ve also got 195Gr EOL Bergers and 175gr ELD-X so if you recommend a different setup, let me know.

Thanks!

Bumping this up to the top in case anybody has any input. Thanks.

First lookup min/max loads in reloading data published by the powder and bullet manufacturers. Then plug the loads into GRT to see if they meet whatever performance goals you have in mind; GRT will show how that load will perform within 5-10% of reality in my experience (sometimes GRT and reloading manuals give wildly different results which is fun to troubleshoot). Deciding what powder is better is typically looking at what gives the best velocity and a nice complete burn for your length of barrel.

Nick has some load data on Hawkins Precison, Jim had done some earlier but it thinking of changing his recipe.

Personally I am going to use the load data on Hodgen’s site and start at 2 grains below max.

Thank you, I appreciate it!

I’m working on a load with the Berger 185 EH but haven’t found a winner yet.
