I will be buying a 7mm PRC rifle soon. After doing some extensive research, I have narrowed my choice to Bergara B-14 Squared Crest with carbon barrel or a Fierce Rival. If you could, give me your thoughts on these two rifles, and what your preference might be. Thanks in advance.
Ooh. Tough call between those two.
If I were making that decision, my first question would be what my scope budget would be after buying the rifle. If there isn’t $1000 in the budget for a scope, I’d go B14 Crest with a steel barrel and then put a great scope on it.
But to answer the question directly…
I’ve had both 0.5MOA and 1MOA rifles from BOTH brands. I don’t think you could say one will be more accurate than the other.
Fierce’s customer support is quite bad.
Fierce is more expensive.
The Bergara has no adjustable comb.
Fierce is more likely to have quality control issues.
Bergara trigger is decent but not as good as the Fierce.
Tough call, but I’d lean toward the Fierce. Buy through a retailer like BassPro instead of ordering directly from them since their customer support is poor.
Welcome Bill @wdast , I don’t think either is a bad choice. If I bought the Bergara I would be budgeting a trigger tech trigger in the deal. Personally I would look at the Divide or Canyon. The B14s use Bergara’s trigger, the premiers use TT. If you join either companies “Owners Groups on FB” you will see a variety of happy/unhappy owners. I own Bergara’s and love them, but like Jim would lean toward Fierce for value per dollar. Sportsman’s Warehouse has a wide selection of Fierce rifles and good support.
OOOR @backfire , would you get either of those or go with the new Sako 90 Quest?? ![]()
Sako 90 Quest is the finest rifle I’ve shot. It’s very expensive and very very good. I think my FAVORITE rifle is the Fierce Mountain Reaper because I like the chassis style, but the Sako just feels super quality.
I’ve been wanting a new coyote/deer rifle. Wanting a 6mm Creedmoor. Almost would do a .22 Creedmoor but I think I’ll go 6mm. I was going to do the Fierce Rogue all this time. But now I’m thinking maybe the Sako 90…? I could do the reaper just never been a big chassis guy. Always liked the look of a stock better is all, never even owned a chassis gun. You think now is the time to give it a go @backfire ? Or if I’m a more traditional fella, stick with stocks? And if so, Sako or Rogue?! Tooouuugh decisions!
Jim I really appreciate your honesty. I have seen some of your videos with Fierce and you dont mence words and have told the truth about Fierce even though you have done some things with the owner. Its a seems to be a great gun but as my dad has always said in our business “Service makes the Difference” It shows your integrity and that you not just some paid sponsor.
What about lefties?
I LOVE the look of your Sgt Slaughter rifle. The tactical look makes me think of when I served. Though, in Canada, we only.really used the C7 and C8.
I cant really find a lefty 7mm PRC except the Savage Ultralight. I guess I can pop that into a new stock… any suggestions?
Id like to keep it relatively low cost. Under $2500 uf possible.
Cheers
@backfire I legitimately would value you opinion on this one? ![]()
I don’t believe the Sako 90 quest is available in 6mm Creedmoor so that may make the decision pretty easy to go with the Fierce.
22 Creed is a pretty compelling offering from Horizon too though.
Ooh. Lefty is tricky. Savage ultralight in a new stock is a decent option. I also think Fierce came out with a lefty Rage this year. I honestly am not super up to speed on lefty options.
Thanks
So, let’s say i go.grab a Savage Ultralight.
Can you recommend.a chassis?
I just love that tactical look.
