7PRC real world test with 175gr federal fusion tipped

So I wanted to share a real world test with federal fusion tipped ammo. I’m all for shooting into ballistic gel, but I really love when I’m able to show how a round preforms on an animal. I went on a west Texas free range aoudad hunt and was able to successfully harvest a 32” aoudad. The shot was from 240 yards on a 33° angle. I chose the federal fusion tipped because it’s a bonded bullet knowing that I had to go through a least one shoulder to anchor the aoudad. I really wanted my gun to like the Federal 170gr Terminal Assents, but it was shooting those at 1” - 1 1/2”MOA

The following is the setup.

Federal fusion tipped 175gr

7PRC seekins element hunter, 22” barrel, dead air nomad XC TI can, recoil X break

SD is around 10-16fps,

MV around 2857

Getting 1/2” groups.

The shot was right where I wanted it to go and it dropped him right where he stood. I was able to recover the bullet lodged in the offside shoulder. Weighed the round after and it was at 98.4gr The round did everything it was supposed to and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. The page won’t let me post the trauma damage

Great result. I don’t think I’ve killed anything with the fusion tipped so it’s nice to see the results on game.

Jim, which Federal load did you use in your 7 PRC for the caribou hunt?

175 ELDX

Typing more here because the computer software won’t let me just use what I typed above

yeah I used the federal premium load with the 175 eldx
