Jim im glad you did your video about hornady and the load and the data. Some people seem to be taking shots or maybe giving Hornady a platform to explain and state thier case. It is what it is but im glad you raised the question and it has held them accountable to ensure they do what they say they are gunna do. Point is they are having to explain and admit things!!! THANKS!!!
Yeah, I think we need to hold ammo companies accountable. We deserve to be informed when they make a change to a box of ammo so you know it will shoot differently than your last box.
What would you say the statistics are for hunters who reload as opposed to those that don’t…
Just a wild guess, maybe 1 in 50???
Probably something like that.
Here’s the best breakdown of the situation that I’ve seen to date. I guess I’ve never even thought that ammo companies wouldn’t update their velocity data from lot to lot as I reload centerfire ammo where I actually care about the performance and the stuff that I do buy comes stamped with a test velocity -
Our Buddy Ron Spomer did an interview with Seth regarding the discrepancy between the 3000 fps and the measured 2800 fps. Basically it was smoke and mirrors. Discussed highly accurate chronographs with the new Garmin to variations in I think it was Loader 26 lot variations. Also difficulty getting premium powders due to the war in Ukraine and Gaza taking all the premium powder. I think basically trying to cover their a## by baffling with BS.
Yep. Thats one reason why i said this plus a couple other guys.
I saw that interview with Seth from Hornady. Maybe it’s true about the difficulty getting premium powder and lot variations, but in my mind it’s still a problem. It may explain the issue, but it doesn’t excuse Hornady for continuing to make a velocity statement on the box that the ammo won’t deliver.
