I echo that lottery comment - my general ignorance of it all has put me off for years from aquiring points. Do you recommend a service like GoHunt to help?
They each have a tag to hunt, so two elk can be killed.
In this case we’re using a Berger 140 Elite Hunter. I really picked it just to have some experience with them since I haven’t personally shot anything with a Berger.
They’ve shot just about everything under the sun but still shoot 6.5 PRC with a suppressor the best.
Id probably go with a tag service that will do all the applications for you. Gohunt is good but just gives you info and you have to do all the applying still.
Rest assured that those of us that have been working on tags for most our life in several western states still find it challenging. Randy Newberg usually has some videos describing a lot of the processes and timing for the different western state along with point systems and what is easy hard and harder to get. I find that the point systems are a failure and should be phased out in favor of pure random draw because they are not doing what they were intended to do in most cases. I live in Oregon and I drew a prime antelope tag after 16 years - ten years ago. So now I am back to 10 points and now need 22 to get what took me 16 before and it keeps growing. Called point creep. I have 16 elk points but now need 23 to get the prime elk hunt.
Yeah i watched Randy’s videos on each state. Very informative, but always found after 10 min I’d be rewinding them as all of the “60% tags go here and 30% go there” had my head spinning.
Yuck!
Based on what you posted, I agree. They should come up with something better.
