I listened to Jim’s podcast today from a few days ago about how to get better accuracy from your rifle. It was a very informative podcast and enjoyed the tips that Jim mentioned. I can say from personal experience that the thing that helped me get to 1/2" MOA or better on a couple of my rifles was adjusting my trigger down close to 2 lbs. I have 2 Fierce rifles, one Rival in 7PRC and one Rogue in 308. They both will shoot sub 1/2" groups. These are the most accurate rifles and best triggers i have ever owned. I initially was having some issues getting my .308 to shoot good groups, but once i checked poundage on the trigger and saw it was @ 3’lbs, I reduced it down to 2 lbs and “bingo” it started grouping magnificently. Just my personal experience on getting my rifle more accurate.
Hey, Mark.
Just curious on the triggers… after market or original?
Frank,
Both of my Fierce rifles came with Bix and Andy triggers. Although, these are the first what I call “Precision Rifles” I have purchased, I have never changed triggers from original except for changing the spring in my Browning Hell’s Canyon SR speed rifle. It was the MCarbo spring kit, which helped it some, but nothing near as good as the OEM Bix and Andy triggers that come in the Fierce rifles. I really did not know what I was missing until I shot with these triggers in the Fierce rifles. It is amazing how much better they feel and how much more accurate you can shoot with these triggers. I almost forgot to include the fact that both of my Fierce rifles have shorter than normal barrels. My 7PRC has a 20" barrel and my .308 has an 18" barrel. They still shoot great groups, even with these short barrels, which I prefer since i use suppressors on all of my rifles.
Thanks, Mark.
I’ve heard Jim talk about the Mtn Reaper and after taking a look on the website, I have a new rifle wishlist!
On the Bixn-Andy triggers, are those single stage or two stage? And what is your (or anyone else that want’s to jump in here) opinion on those two options? I am tweaking my new Bergara B14 Willderness Ridge (6.5CM) & just making the list for future changes.
Frank,
I am going to step aside and let someone that is more knowledgeable about triggers answer this question. I am pretty sure that the Bixn-Andy trigger is a single stage trigger. There is no travel in the trigger. I have mine set at 2 lbs and it is sweet. Although i have been hunting deer for over 50 years, I am still learning everyday about these precision rifles and ammunition. Good luck on any modifications or upgrades you make to your rifle.
I like the Bix N Andy triggers. The ones I’ve used from them are single stage.
