Advice on adding an ARCA rail

Hey, I want to add an ARCA rail on my Tikka Varmint just in front of the Mag well. I was thinking about getting one from area419.com. I will have to add some attachment points to mount the ARCA rail. Does anyone have any advice or recommendations for doing this on a synthetic stock?

I put a combo rail, picatinny/arca on front of savage 110 ultra lite from Salmon River Solutions. Easy enough to do. They have a few types of rails. I am not affiliated other than a customer.

Il check them out. Did you need to drill and set a nut on the back side of the stock?

Just a thought that I might skip the Area 419 version. Theirs is wavy on the side which makes it not work as well with some accessories because it has less bearing surface.

I really prefer a standard arca rail. But that’s just my preference.

Thanks. I think that there is some benefit if you are using their arca attachments but i hadn’t thought about other brand attachments. Thanks.

Yes drill and put the nut inside. I actually got a bit longer screw. It also has some curve to it so it is flush against the stock fore end. But this is if you want it at the front and not near balance point which is a thing if you want to have it sit on a tripod by itself. It also has a sling connection point which I use. They have different options.

Perfect, thanks. Have you had to heat set the nut on the backside? Or just friction?

I used a nylock and friction only. My savage stock has little walls for added rigidity and the nut fit within those plus room for a small socket to hold. Sorry to say I did not take a picture of it and I don’t really want to take it apart😀 again.
