I have an older Savage 110 in 7mm with a synthetic stock without a scope. I’m not sure what to do with it as I personally have never shot it. Is this rifle worth spending the money on a decent scope and maybe changing the stock? Thank you in advance for any advice!
The 110 has to be the most diverse model of rifle ever. Some are really nice and great shooters, other can be pretty entry level. Which do you have, do you know?
I think Ben is on track here.
I’d at least toss a scope on and shoot it. If it shoots great, then it may be a perfect gun to swap out the stock on and build up. If it doesn’t shoot well, I probably wouldn’t spend the money to overhaul it because you’d have to get a new barrel as well and at that point, you could already have a new Tikka.
Ben and Jim, I’m not sure what level of rifle this is. Serial number research found It was manufactured between May 1989 and 1 Nov 1995. The model refers to it as a LA/Flat back, the rear scope mount is flat. The action is very smooth and has a 23" barrel. Thank you for the great advise!
I think the only way to know how it’s performing is to actually shoot it. Sometimes you get lucky with a cheap gun, and sometimes they just won’t shoot.
Jim, In one of your videos you mentioned the MTM Ammo boxes and how the rounds just rattled around. I don’t know if you solved the issue if not Evergreen has a foam box that might work for you. Great point and thank you for the input.
