Jim, I saw your recent Africa trip you are putting together. I wish I could currently swing it but, the timing just doesn’t work out for me. So, I just wanted to put it out there that I hope you have other opportunities like this in the future. It would be a pleasure to accompany you on a future trip someday. I hope to throw my hat in the ring next time. Thanks for all you do for us here on Backfire. - Clark
Absolutely! I’m sure there will be many trips to come. Would love to share a hunting camp with you.
Jim you have mentioned you have been to Africa several times.
I was wondering if you ever went with the outfitter’s for African Trophy Pursuit?
I won a trip to Africa at a WTU banquet and I am scheduled to go August 2024 and was curious if you ever used them before or has anyone here hunted with them before.
My trip is an all inclusive 7day trophy impala hunt and I can take a group as large as 14 ppl for an added $1,000 per person.
Sounds like an awesome hunt. Impala are a great species to go after. Be sure to bring a good camera to get some pics of them live as well. I haven’t hunted with them before.
Jim this is my first ever trip out of the country and I plan on taking my own rifle.
There is plenty of info out there on what needs to be done to transport a firearm to Africa.
What I cannot find is what is the cost to bring back your trophies.
This trip I won is a trophy impala hunt but my group can add just about any plains game we encounter.
We plan on having a taxidermist the outfitter recommends take care of our trophies.
Trying to work out our budget on not only the animals we want to go after but the cost to bring them home.
Can you tell us what the cost to bring the trophies back would roughly be?
I know this is a loaded question as there are many variables but looking for budgetary numbers.
Also what have you seen for wait time to get your trophies back, 1-2 years?
Thanks Jim again for putting together such a great platform.
Check my video on Backfire called something like “opening two crates of taxidermy”. I showed all the pricing.
Awall- are the possible “additional people spots”open? If so, I would be interested to talk with you about that. I don’t know if there is a private message function in this forum but I would be interested to talk more. Let me know.
Message sent to your in box
I somehow missed the announcement about the upcoming Africa hunt. Where would I look for announcements about future trips?
The info for this one is at https://backfire.tv/africa We do still have 2 spots open if you want to jump in!
Thanks, Jim. I already have plans for this July, I’m taking my sons on a camping trip to the high Sierra, but I am definitely interested in future trips.
@ClarkT here is the African hunt website you asked for.

Clark just an FYI I have never been to Africa and I cannot say how this outfitter is personally but I know ppl who have went and give them high regards.
@backfire I saw your reference to Africa for this year in your shot shot youtube video and you pointed to /Africa again but I only see 2023 info there? I am I missing something?
I changed the page now to say 2024. Just really a sign up for more info. We’re looking at dates and details right now.
So Jim am I reading this right that the trip is about $6,000 and that’s for 4 animals or is that $6,000 and one pick out of those four animals… just a coonass from Louisiana
You can get 4 animals in your package and it costs around $6k for the trip.
the real problem is will power when you start going ala carte. Hmm I see an eland - when will I get the chance again? Oh a sable … Plus there is taxidermy and shipping. Could end up double of that. Not saying any of this is bad of course just being realistic. And if it is a trip of a lifetime for you as it would be for me, worrying about money while there should not be something that lessens the trip for you. I buy AI when in Mexico even though we do not drink much - wife not at all. But there is no discussion about how much that steak costs or do we want room service. My point is budget enough to make sure you enjoy to the level you want. Not saying shoot everything or get full mounts or fly first class. But don’t short change yourself either and then have discipline. I would say expect $10K - but Jim would know better than I. For me I would plan for the full body eland mount and then the room addition to my house to put it. Probably an extra $50K😜
Im in… filled form out.
Any update on the 2024 trip…this is not the first message of 5000…
Haha. No info just yet. Talking with the PH to get dates settled.
