I just wanted to report on my African trip. If you remember I was asking Jim for Bullitt recommendations for 300 Winn Mag. I carried my Mountain Reaper with the Backfire Recoil Pad , Silencer Co Scythe with a Recoil X Brake on the end. The package worked great on everything using the Precision Hunter in the 178 grain. I opted for the 178 over 200 mostly because of recoil, and slightly better groups. The combination worked really well on Wildebeest, Zebra, Red Hartebeest and Gemsbok and a little overkill on the Impala and Blesbok I took all the animals between 250 and 350 yards only needing follow up on Wildebeest and Zebra. The Wildebeest dropped to is knees and I took a follow up to finish him. The first animal I took on the trip was the Zebra and I made slight mess of it and required 3 shots and it weighed heavy on me and went straight back range to take few more shots using the European shooting sticks which I really liked after getting convertible with them. My gun was topped with my Burris Eliminator 6 and I can say with confidence if offered any replacement I would stick with that optic as it work awesome. I didn’t know anything about the Recoil X Break and learned about it on video by X ring and truly noticed a considerable reduction in recoil than without it. In closing Africa was a trip of lifetime for me and I would go back again. Just wanted to share Thanks
Just want to add we ate all of the animals and the rest went to staff and was donated locally. That being said my favorite my fairly large margin was Zebra which I am still taking grief from my wife for shooting
Fantastic! Who was the outfitter and would you recommend them?
Agreed on the Burris Eliminator. Phenomenal system.
I thought I replied but don’t see it. The outfitter was Cheetau Safaris and yes my spelling is correct. I would recommend. It is a family operation Father, wife and 21 year old son and they have been in Africa there entire life. The reserve we hunted didn’t have dangerous game which is fine with me. If that want you want they have that avalaible on other sites. Lots of ani Animals and can pretty much will taylor to how you prefer hunting. I am already planning my return as we really enjoyed our hunt and for bang for buck can’t beat it
