Awesome hunt yesterday here in Louisiana. The rut is actually still going down here. Nice buck came out at 100 yards, head down, smelling his way towards two doe in my food plot. He paused for a second and I got the high shoulder shot at about 95 yards, quatering to me. He dropped instantly!

Sorry Greg, I should have explained. The spot I’m pointing to is the center of the scapula, right in the middle of the high shoulder. Dropped like a sack of potatoes.
Also, I got another one two days later. Didn’t get pictures of where the shot went in, but it was a high shoulder shot too and it also dropped right in the place it was standing. I’m sold on the high shoulder!

Somewhere earlier on Backfire I posted a similar picture, I was going for high shoulder, the shot landed a little high and further back but it severed the spine and the Deer Dropped like a rock. one inch up or down and it wouldn’t have been so clean a kill. It was a lucky shot more than anything But it did the Job. I’m definitely a convert to the high shoulder shot. thanks for sharing Greg
