Jim: Just bought a Begara BMR 22LR with the carbon fiber barrel. How many rounds can I expect the barrel to handle before it needs replacement? We shoot about 2000 rounds a season so it will get heavily used. Thanks.

I spoke with Paul Parrot who owns vudoo firearms (and coincidentally I bought a home from him). He makes the most popular precision 22lr rifles among competition shooters.
According to him, it’s not possible to shoot out a 22lr barrel. He’s seen them with 20,000 rounds and still ticking. He said there just isn’t enough pressure to burn out the throat.
Obviously there’s SOME limit, but it sounds like nobody ever finds it.

I agree with Jim. It can’t be done. What can be done though is you can foul the barrel so bad that it will lose all accuracy. If you can keep on top of the barrel cleaning you will have that gun for life. And you can pass it down for generations.
