I see Zero Tech advance worth all the hype? I see that Rokslide has partnered up with zero tech to make a scope called shot to hunt model… I guess it’s one that has passed there drop tests etc… and comes in at $1000. So if anyone has any real world experience with Zero Tech I’d love some recommendations
Never even heard of ZT until this model.
The only intriguing part of this scope to me is the advertised “best hunting FFP reticle “
Yep there the Australian version of Athlon… where all there optics are built in China except for the Trace Advance which is Japan made.. supposedly at the same place as Night Force and Trijicon if you believe all the rumors of RokSlide.
I ordered 2 as part of their first drop, they should be here around Aug/Sept and I can give a realistic review. I don’t know a lot about their other scopes lines, but I know this version is being made by LOW out of Japan.
I’m really intrigued by the reticle design. I like that they simplified it from what the Minox uses. If it works as advertised, I think you’re going to see it expand to a lot of other scope brands. They’ve posted images of it at various power levels against animals, targets, and rocks/trees, and I’ve been impressed. It’s functional at every power level for hunters and brings a ton of functionality.
I did have a chance to look and handle two of them at the Western Hunt Expo. The glass appeared good, but it’s hard to give a fair comparison because it was inside and I didn’t have other scopes next to it to get a true side by side comparison. I liked the low profile turrets and at least on the two models, they had a decent “feel” when adjusting. I do think it’s going to take a minute to get used to how to use the reticle as designed.
For what it’s worth, they’ve been using them in their S2H classes, and they’ve had pretty glowing reviews so far. I don’t think I’ve seen a bad review yet, but people may just not want to rock the boat, time will tell. From a durability standpoint, a user that just attended one of their classes said the teacher literally chucked a rifle with one of these scopes on it so hard that the stock broke, put the scope on a different stock, and kept on shooting with no problem. ![]()
I know Cliff Gray took one to Africa and did an interview with the reticle designer. If I remember correctly, his one critique was to have the whole reticle light up instead of the center dot. But he also claimed something to the effect of he shouldn’t have been shooting as far as he was after sunset or something to that effect, so I don’t know if he was just trying to find something to not like or if it’s an actual concern.
