This version would lose the current length-of-pull adjustment and move to spacers for length of pull, and will also lose about 3 ounces of weight.
It looks cool but I REALLY liked the OG green version the best.
I like this a lot better than the tan, but the Green you showed originally was the best.
I’m a fan of the black.
I like it. I also didn’t think I’d like the negative comb, but seeing a rendering now, I think I like it more than the initial version.
Hey Jim. I actually like the previous model more aesthetically, minus the CF middle. I like the CF middle on the rendering. But, my question is, why the change? Did you find something in the manufacturing that made this new model easier or in your testing/use found something in the previous that you wanted to change?
Personally, the current buttstock has been great and I love the LOP. I just locktight’d the screws since it on a rifle only I shoot and its set. I love to learn if this is an upgrade and why.
We had a few goals with this: (1) We can’t let other companies one-up us with a full carbon fiber buttstock (2) we wanted to drop weight and this design is 3oz lighter (3) Any adjustment ads slight amounts of slop and even though we got it very low in the old design, it still can’t be zero, (4) We wanted the slight negative comb which the old design simply couldn’t do without a massive overhaul and we were starting from scratch anyway, and (5) We want to get away from so much Cerakote being necessary. A black version (with cf) means we can dye some parts and anodize the metal, which is much more durable and easier to manufacture.
I’m torn. On one hand I find the new design very aesthetically pleasing. Like the negative comb. Really like the coloring throughout. I get the weight argument but it’s never been a point I really consider when purchasing unless there’s a substantial difference. But maybe it matters to your target market, really don’t know. Most of the stocks I’m looking at today seem to fall in that 25-35 oz range. But I also typically buy traditional stocks and don’t have a good grasp on what competitive chassis are offering.
I also really like the idea of adjustable LoP. I think the Sako 90 Quest knocked that portion of their rifle stock out of the park. It also gives me some flexibility if my kids are shooting. I wish every traditional stock would incorporate this into their rifle.
so idk, I fall somewhere inbetween. Like the new design but also hate losing that feature at the same time.
Will this replace. The previous or. Will. There be 2 options? What is the minimum LoP for the new version?
We don’t really know if this will replace the current version. We think it’s a compelling version.
We haven’t officially set the length of pull. Building a couple this week and I’ll go out and shoot them and torture test them to see if it’s better or not. We would obviously only release it if it’s better.
I do think the all carbon fiber buttstock will really increase the perceived quality, and the lighter weight will set a new standard.
We have some cool concepts for paint jobs on this that we can only do with carbon fiber on the buttstock.
This is a winner for sure. A lot of us boring guys just want a black or carbon fiber color. I’d pay a premium for this version.
I Love idea of Black didn’t want say this out loud but the original reminds me of MDT Oryx sorry
Love the way it looks, will it keep the same above bore butt stock? if it was already stated i missed it
Yes it will
I’m a fan of the all black, just want to make sure the weightloss of the chassis doesn’t affect functionality and recoil.
Also when are the other chassis gonna be back in stock so I can order one? ![]()
Your canadian friends up in the Great North are always willing to test products
we got some barren ground caribou hunt plan in November and a Bison hunt in March ![]()
Carbon fiber is a must when the temps drops below 30 celcius
