Hey all! Contacted customer service and they directed me here. Really excited to get my hands on one of these new chassis! I was told that the best bet for a magazine is the MDT ones since they were tested the most in the chassis. I have a Tikka T3x in 6.5 PRC. I know Tikka’s are all technically long action (they just need a change in the bolt stop). On the MDT website, it only lists the 6.5 prc magazines under their “Long Action” section. Does this mean I need to buy your chassis in the “Long Action” configuration for 6.5 PRC? Also does the 5-round MDT “Medium” action magazine fit in your chassis ([300 WSM / 6.5 PRC MDT Metal Magazine - MED - 5 RND – MDT USA)](javascript:void(0);)? And, if so, does the chassis need to be in the “long action” or “short action” configuration? Right now I only use factory ammunition (although perhaps I’ll reload in the future). Thanks!
I don’t know what the Tikka config will be but for the Rem 700 LA the mag is CIP. Gemini is saying you’ll get feeding issue with CIP… But the magazine I got for the Backlite are the MDT ones.

We haven’t finalized the Tikka inlet just yet but so far that’s looking like the most compliant magazine.
Thanks Jim! So if I’m understanding correctly, your testing of this chassis (in a Tikka platform) was with the 7 PRC, but not necessarily a 6.5 PRC, is that right? After looking on MDT it seems like the only two realistic hunting mags for 6.5 PRC they sell are the 3-round AICS ( 300WSM / 6.5 PRC MDT Metal AICS Magazine - 3 RND – MDT USA ), and the 5-round medium action magazine, but it’s not listed as AICS (300 WSM / 6.5 PRC MDT Metal Magazine - MED - 5 RND). I know the 3 round should fit, but I’m not sure about the 5-round medium action mag. I just like the idea of being able to have a 5-round mag, but don’t want to buy it if it won’t fit. Any thoughts? I actually hadn’t noticed that on the mdt 6.5 prc magazine is a long action. If that’s the mag you use, then yes it does look like a long action. I may need to test this out.
Based on posts I have seen, there are several backfire members (yours truly included) who have a Tikka 6.5PRC for which we are anxiously awaiting the release of the backlight chassis. So we are very interested to find out the results of your tests to make sure we order the correct magazines.

Im waiting for the Tikka 6.5 prc as well I purchased the short action Amend2 mag. I hope it works.
That’ll work perfectly fine. When I said I’d like to test it, I just mean I wanted to compare the short vs long action for 6.5 prc but if the chassis length matches the mag, it’ll work perfect.
Jim. If I am correct the inlet for the tikka action are the same ? Meaning I can put a long or short action in the chassis. So to determine if I want a long or short action chassis is actually determined by which magazine I am going to be running?
MDT metal axis (coal=2.955)……short chassis?
HCA tikka T3x mag (coal = 3.410)….long chassis?
Tikka T3x factory mags…long chassis?
Amend 2 mags…not tikka compatible

So when is the T3x 6.5 PRC chassis going to be available?
