Ballistic Coefficients

I am working on a load and using the Load Development Spec Sheet. I went to find the BC for the bullet and see that the Hornady bullet I am going to load gives two BC’s; G1 and G7. I researched that the G1 is the BC for a bullet that has more of a flat butt end and the G7 is for a bullet that has more of a tapered end. The bullets I am going to use have a tapered end, so why the two options for this one bullet? What is the significance to me when reloading? Any thoughts? Hornady ELD-M 147gr

The g1 is always shown because it’s historically the most common although more bullets today would match a g7 model better.

However, a drag model is far more accurate than a bc based calculator. Use the Hornady app and pick the specific bullet instead of entering the bc.

The bc number is usually close enough out to about 500, and then it starts falling apart.
