Bergara short action magnum - .540 bolt face

At some point I plan on building a 300 wsm. I thought I would just buy a Bergara Premier action for $900. It’s on the todo list, but hasn’t made it far enough down the line to pull the trigger. With that said, I just found a standard bergara B14 action that was take off a brand new HMR rifle. Never been shot and it is a magnum short action with a .540 bolt face. I was thinking about buying it for $440, which is half the price of the premier action.

Any real reason to spend twice as much for the premier action? I could spend about the same amount with this bergara pull off action and a bartlein steel barrel as just the premier action.

My son and I both have the B-14’s and they are very nice. I think you would be happy with it.

Go to scopelist the actions are $649 or get the weatherby 307 action off gunbroker $675-ish

Thanks! I was only finding premier action on gunbroker for $900. This doesn’t make the B14 action seem like that good of a deal.

I have never done a build on a standard b14 action but I generally like those actions.

Also check Aero precision. They have their blemish actions on a big sale right now. That’s a very premium action for the same price as these.

Thanks for the information on Aero Precision blemishes. I had a 15% off code as well and ended getting a blemished short action with a .540 bolt face for right at $600 shipped and with taxes. Almost the same price as the Bergara B14 take off. Guess I have to build the 300 WSM now…
