In search of the best Hunting Rifle sling. Needs to be lightweight but also really comfortable for high western back country hiking/hunting. Any suggestions?
Following. I don’t have a sling that stands out in any way.
I can’t decide if I liked the quake claw or not. It didn’t “slip” as far as falling off my shoulder, but tended to grip the material so much that it moves the material around on your skin. Maybe tucking in a shirt or something would have fixed that. Idk, should be interesting to see what others suggest.
I hunt 3-4 days a week in Hawaii. I have tried a lot of different slings, never been fully happy with any of them. For the last 6 months I have been using the “Ultimate Gun Sling”. It is made of rubber, comes with either traditional swivels or QD. Pretty decent price at roughly $50. You can use it over one shoulder or when I am packing out I throw one piece over my head and the rifle isn’t going anywhere. Our terrain varies a ton and we go from dry to wet. It stays well on the shoulder and doesn’t rub on my neck. Overall very happy with them.
Check out the Quake Claw Contour
I have Butler creek slings on several of my guns. They are just a little stretchy so real comfortable and seem to last forever.
I really like the RedKettle slings. very lightweight and they have some kind of grippy material that really works to keep it from sliding off your shoulder.
I have been looking at the FHF Gear rifle sling.
Dang! Thats a lot of hunting! I’d love to get out to Kauai to hunt.
I’ve got a drawer full of slings, some I liked better than others but I settled on the Montana sling design years ago. It adjusts for length almost instantly which can help you to steady for a shot but it also stays put wherever you adjust it. On long hunts where the gun is on your shoulder all day, and in hilly country, it’s nice to be able to easily change your carry position to give your shoulder a break.
