Good evening. I normaly don’t post as most of my questions and topics get answered.
My youngest son and I are heading to eastern Tenn to meet up with my older son to finally do a hunt together before he gets depolyed overseas.
We will be in the upper part of the state near Cherokee WMA
My question is to the group is, any advise to help be successful. We will be glassing all day Friday to get ready for Saturday.
Blessings to you all
Robert
I’ve traveled a little in that area but haven’t hunted there. Are the trees super thick? Will it be hard to glass?
Anyone have an idea what the bears eat in that area? For fall bear in the west, it’s mostly about finding the berries and fresh scat.
I’ve never hunted bears outside of MT, but I hear on the east side of the country the bears focus mainly on acorns in the fall.

Thank you for the help. I will let you know what we find. I think that we will be in for walking and thick vegetation.

Thank you again for the help. We made it back from the hunting trip. It was an adventure. It snowed and we found out that hurricane Helen did a number on trees and paths in the area. The trees are dense and not a lot of shooting lanes. We also learned that it is best to have a guide to assist for bear. We saw no evidence of any bear in the area.
My youngest son was successful and took a deer since it was also rifle season.
So the trip turned out great to see my sons and one took a deer.
Congrats! Sounds like a memorable trip.
Yes it was.
Wanted to let you know. That my son took the deer with a high shoulder shot and the deer sat back and fell down. Did not move. It was a great shot. We had talked about using this shot placement to try it out.
We were using my 308 handloads with hornaday A-max 168 grns. Using cfe223 at 45.7 grns.
