Carbon prefit or blank

I’ve been perusing various websites looking at barrel options and have about come to the conclusion the fastest option will either be from Proof or Helix6 as they are the only ones with product ready to ship. I’m also able to use Guidefitter and a couple other options to save a little cash. So my question becomes do I opt for a prefit that I can install on my T3X, or do I order a blank and have my local gunsmith work his magic, IF he will touch a carbon wrapped blank? There was a time I would have bought the blank and had my Dad do the work but Parkinson’s and a 12 hour drive pretty much canceled that happening ever again.

Look at midway right now as they have a sale on barrels, and done really good deals on BSF carbon fiber barrels.

At least for me, I’d do the prefit. If it’s your first time, you’ll have some tools to buy but I like having the capability. But if you’re not the diy type, a gunsmith may be the same cost as the tool cost may equal the shop cost.

I’m leaning the prefit route, and I believe I can still get access to the wrenches but if not the investment isn’t painful.
