Christensen Arms Ridgeline

I recently picked up a Christensen Ridgeline (not FFT) chambered in 7mm-08. I turned down the factory trigger as far as it would go (2.5lb). Bit heavy for me but it’ll work for now. I slapped my Vortex Strike Eagle on it. I tested three different factory loads. Hornady Precision Hunter 150gr ELDX, Superformance 139gr CX, and Superformance 139gr SST. All three shot lights out. I threw up a 5 shot group of each, adjusted the zero, and stretched it to 600 yards not missing a shot at each 100 yard instrument. I was VERY surprised at the accuracy and consistency after the reviews I have seen lately.
HOWEVER, there is one BIG problem! It doesn’t feed if you put more than two rounds in the five round internal magazine. Very disappointing for a $2k gun! If you try to cycle the bolt it will bind up in the guides and stop on the back of the case. To make it cycle you have to push the center of the bolt with your thumb.
I will likely put a detachable box magazine conversion on it in an attempt to fix this issue.
Luckily this rifle shoots like a dream or it’d be going back! And she’s pretty so there’s that lol

I have the FFT version of the same chambering and it is a really nice gun. In my lifetime so far I purchased a total of four Christiansen rifles. As of right now I only have two of them. This one and a scout in 308. The other two I had to get rid of because they were very problematic.

Mine likes a Barnes 145LRX loaded by choice ammo really nicely.

Yeah if it’s shooting that well I would consider switching out to a different stock or perhaps even putting it in something like an MDT chassis. That would be slick!

Glad to hear it’s shooting well at least! I actually bought a Christensen this week to do a little review. Been a while since I’ve tried one because my experience has been like Carter’s. If you get a good one, they can be great, but the quality control is horrible and they ship a lot of lemons.

Update on the feeding issue. I just got in an MDT Field stock in and both steel and poly mags to try. We will see this weekend if it will feed with the upgrade.
