Chronograph Gifted to me

My wife bought me a chronograph I think a magneto maybe. it fits on your barrel. Not exactly picked by me.
will fit on with a silencer and are they any good? do I need to head this purchase off while I have time?

The MagnetoSpeed is a good chrono and has been accurate for me. I have a Garmin as well and they show less than 3fps difference over many different calibers. The only issue is it could change the point of impact anytime you hang something off the barrel (suppressor/MagnetoSpeed). I was gifted the Garmin and I gifted the MagnetoSpeed to my son.

Thank you. I dont want to hurt her feeling but wanted make sure it would be ok before I was stuck with it lol

I definitely understand :sunglasses:!

Sold the Magneto speed. will work with a suppressor but it gets untouchably hot. So difficult to adjust. Definitely will change the point of impact. Do, when u have the speed take it off. I sold the lab radar and FX and now have the Garmin. Free from my son-in-law. The garmin is by far the easiest to use. If the new Athlon is as good as advertised, the price would be great. Around $350

I’m planning on upgrading from my magneto speed to the athlon. While it is a great upgrade from a prochrono or old school caldwell, it still misses shots. I end up spending more money and time on ammo if I miss shots, especially in the long run. I can’t wait to just turn it on and the device in the direction I am shooting and be good to go.

Don’t get me wrong, it will absolutely suffice. BUT if there is a return window I would absolutely return it and hope that the athlon is good and put my money there.

That’s a nice gift!

Right now the Garmin is super popular but expensive. Athlon is coming out with a similar version for $350. I haven’t personally shot it yet but it looks like it could be the one to get. It’ll come out next month.

Great info I think I will hold out for the Athon. I looked at it it sounds pretty good.

I never look a gift chronograph in the mouth

I have a Magnetospeed V3. I also have extra pieces to mount it off barrel on my various equipment. The new Garmin unit is very much favored now($600)over the Labradar. Athlon has the Velocity Pro which is about $350, I’m not sure it has hit the street yet but it shows promise. Caldwell has the Velociradar which seems to have some extra features. I’m happy with my Magnetospeed but the newer units are much easier to use. You can get really good info from the techs at Magnetospeed. I have a Neo-X front rest on order. I’ll probably go with 1 of the newer units cuz you can mount it on the rest. I’m waiting on the Athlon and Caldwell units to be available before I decide. Hope this helps…Alan…

Agreed but she gave me the option.
