In todays video Jim gave the CVA Cascade an A- in upgradability. I have one and have not done any upgrades. Has anyone done so? If so, what have you done? I’d love to put a new stock or chassis on it but I’m not sure what, if anything, it fits in. I’m curious to see what you all say.
Boyd’s At-One seems to be the best option right now for a stock, and it’s a good one—especially for the price.
Remington 700 triggers also drop straight in on the CVA Cascade.
What footprint does the cascade follow? Or does Boyd make a “CVA” stock? I believe they advertise they use scope bases made for savage rifles.
Thank you Jim! I checked out Boyd’s and will give the At-One a try. Should see it in a few weeks and I’ll let you know how it goes.
Now, for a custom trigger would you go Timney, Trigger Tech, or something else? This will be in a 6.5 Creedmoor that I do some mid to long range shooting as well as some hunting (mule deer and antelope in Nevada).
I honestly can’t tell a huge difference between the premium trigger companies. Personally I like the Tunney 2-stage.
CVA is it’s own footprint but Boyd’s does an inlet for it.
I have a cascade in 300 win mag, I glass bedded the action added epoxy to the fore end , added a hatch 3" pic rail and a backfire buttpad. I topped the rifle with an outerimpact rail Seekins precision matched rings and a Vortex ViperHD 3-15x44. Im getting .405 groups with Federal Trophy copper 180g, and .506 with Sig Sauer 180g accubond.
I just received my Cascade XT in 6.5prc and adding the same upgrades.
That’s a great build, and awesome results. I need to spend more time with the Cascade. Wish there was more support for aftermarket stocks and such.
I have a Cascade 300WM I glass bedded the action, epoxied the forend, Mathews Fabrication cheek riser and Backfire buttpad. Im very happy with the rifle. Shooting goo
d groups.
For sure a chassis for the Cascade would great as well.
