I have the same experience with the Cure Carbon Barrel. From Cold bore, I can get 5 shots with .5 - .875 accuracy (Federal Premium ELDx 175gr). After that, its 3-5 minutes between shots 1-3; and 15 minutes between those 3 shot groups.
Guys at my range say that the carbon barrels drops heat faster than SS but also heats up faster. I am sticking with SS for my range guns.
So John Mogle the big dog at Fierce assured me I would not have the same problem with a Fierce Mountain Reaper (Which is similar to the MGLite from Bergara) He was right I got rid of the MGLite in 6.5prc, I got the Fierce Mountain Reaper in 7prc, ( i had already replaced the 6.5prc with a Seekins Precision Havak Bravo). The Mountain Reaper has no issues with heat and is a .5 moa gun. This photo was sighting it in from bore site and fine tuning to the bull 2 shots at a time, same hole at 100 yards.
Are you saying that it heats up slower or that it maintains better accuracy when hot? or both?
I was under the impression the Carbon was supposed to shoot better in longer strings of fire than steel. Thats one reason I was going with the carbon
With the Fierce Mountain Reaper I don’t think it matters?!?
Might get Jim to weigh in here he is big on the Mountain Reaper
Lucky me I have not finalized my purchase due to my inability to pick a caliber. I guess I will read more.
I saw a review on Ron Spomer’s page the highly praised the Carbon but mostly Proof Research. That is what sold me. I was looking at a heavy steel before that.
