Dilemma - What to Do?

I am in Texas and most of my hunting is deer hunting. I have a Tikka T3X Lite Veil Wideland in 6.5 CR. with a Z3 Swarovski and a Sako 75 Finnlight in 270WSM with a Zeiss Conquest. I am thinking about selling the Sako and buying a Seekins Precision Havak Pro Hunter PH2 or Seekins Precision Havak Element. Trying to decide Whether to Keep the Sako or move forward. Don’t think the 6.5 PRC gets me anything since I have the 6.5 Cr., plus somewhat worried with the ammo prob with the PRC. Don’t need a 308 as I have a Seekins Precision SP-10 that is a 1/2 moa gun. That leaves 300 PRC, 300 Win Mag. or 7mm Mag. Anyone have any suggestions?

What are you wanting to accomplish with the new gun? Just have something fun to shoot? Have a specific hunt you’re wanting to get outfitted for? How far are you wanting to shoot?

Since I don’t reload, the 270 WSM is becoming increasingly difficult to find. Really would be to replace it with a more modern and available cartridge. So something fun to shoot, Deer / Elk class of game. Sub MOA class of accuracy. Upgrade over the SAKO

Or I should be happy with what I have.

I see. Makes sense to get rid of the 270wsm if you’re not going to be reloading. That being the case, I might also skip the 300prc. Only a couple loads available, so if they don’t work well in your gun, you’re stuck.

7 mag would probably be my pick as it’s flat shooting and very available. 300 win mag is also great if you really want a thumper.

If you’d like something still a little creative but with factory support, 280AI could be fun.

For a cartridge, I would throw 300wsm into the mix with the calibers you mentioned. I have been extremely happy with the 300 short mag and the cartridge design allows for great ballistics out of a 20” barrel. That makes a wonderful deer or elk cartridge.

I absolutely love my 300 prc, fierce mountain reaper. Tack driver

I would think the 7 prc would be a good choice between the 6.5 creed and the 300s

Yes I agree. I have really been researching. 300 prc difficult to get ammo. 6.5 prc to close to the 6.5 cm that I have. 300 mag overkill. 7 prc good middle between 270 WSM and 6.5cm. Now I wait because I want it in a Seekins Precision Havak Element, and they are hard to find.

I appreciate all the input. I really appreciate the review that Jim did about 4 months ago on the Fierce Rogue, and how much he liked it. His review was on the 300 PRC which since I don’t reload he didn’t really recommend. Since I am looking to replace the 270 WSM, it would make since to replace it with another 270 class. So the 7 PRC seems like a good choice.

Well Jim I found a Fierce Carbon Rogue in 7 PRC, and it told me it wanted to go home with me. Thanks for the Fierce Rogue review as it really sealed the deal.

Just returned from rifle range. I am pretty stoked with this Fierce Carbon Rogue in 7mm PRC.
BTW this was Hornady Precision Hunter 175 Grain ELDX

1st 5 shots. Cleaning barrel between each shot. Was actually from bore sighting.

2nd 5 shots. Cleaning barrel after 5 shots. Slight scope adjust.

4th 5 shots at 100 yards

Can’t complain about that! Looks sweet.

I am saving my brass for you

I am just joining the page.
I too had the 270 WSM and ran smack head on to ammo issues as well. I had hell trading it in.
Love that set up. The tripod is really nice too. That would great for shooting ground hogs off of.

So I have really changed things around since I first posted this thread. I have add guns and deleted guns. What I have wound up with is a Seekins Precision Havak Bravo in 6.5prc with a Burris Veracity 4-20x50 with a Daniel Defense Soundguard SG30TI suppressor.

I also have a Fierce Mountain Reaper in 7prc with a Burris Veracity 4-20x50 and a AB Raptor Suppressor.

Funny thing is I am replacing mine with 6.5 PRC.
I going to give the Begera Carbon a try.

I had a Bergara MGLite in 6.5prc. I tried a number of different loads and could never get it to better than 1moa. It also once the barrel got hot the accuracy was all over the place. So if the barrel was cool I could do about 5 shots before the accuracy diminished.
