Hey everyone, since I’m from Canada and we have a big shortage with large rifle primer , I would like to see how the difference are
CCI Match
Federal Match
Or magnum
What would be better
I was just able to get some CCI match for now and start some reloading to see
I think it depends on your goals. If you are looking for the ABSOLUTE BEST reloads a man can make and achieve accuracy at the top level of competitors then yes. If you are looking for 1 moa out to 500 yards then maybe, but probably not.
You will find that certain primers have better accuracy and better SD’s with certain powder combinations.
I just find some standard CCI’s / Remington / Federal and call it good, but that’s just me
Agree with what Adam said above. If you’re just looking for a good hunting load then spending a bunch of time changing out primers probably won’t get you much. But it’s a different story if you’re in F class shooter going for a thousand yards.
I’d be a little wary about military style primers. I purchased some from Ginex and had both a Kimber and a Browning rifle not set them off because they’re so hard.
I forget which YouTube channel or website I saw this on but they recommended when you buy primers to buy as many as you absolutely can at once. While that does somewhat sound like hoarding, we’re still in a phase in this business where primers can disappear for months and months.
Like i mentioned above, it largely depends. I know Federal Gold Medal Match are highly sought after, but I have not used them. If I were you I would do some research on what Benchrest, or F-class shooters use with their powder combinations and go from there.
