Jim’s has a new Backstop recoil pad for the Tikka T3x. I just put one on my Tikka 6.5cm today. Haven’t shot it yet.
I thought it was just Horizon, but it looks like Fierce is offering 22 Creed now… it is expensive (but less so than the Horizon at least). I wonder how long it will take to start showing up in brands like Ruger, Savage, Tikka, etc. Shot Show is coming up–if @backfire is attending and asking around, maybe we will get to hear a bit about it…
My Dad had 6 shoulder surgeries and I found this load for him to use. It worked very well for him HSM Low Recoil 6.5 Creedmoor Ammunition - Shooting Times. I also added a Cowl Induction Muzzle Break from ZroDelta. I felt like it was just more recoil than a .223
I agree with Jim on a muzzle brake or suppressor. What Jim failed to mention is to also put one of Jim’s BackStop recoil pad on it also. Chances are she will wind up with a negative recoil… I have one on my Tikka T3X Lite Veil Wideland with Jim’s BackStop and a AB Raptor 7.62 with a 6" Reflex. Recoil is negligible.
Another thought is to get a BOG tripod and mount the rifle on the tripod. The tripod will absorb most of the recoil
How about a 6mm in the ar platform? Seems like no recoil at all. Certainly not very much. Even a heavier 223 if allowed in your state. Adjustable stock, can be surpressed, shorter barrel, can be accurate enough for hunt.
You could get a 6.5 CM in an AR10 platform
I’ll second the 243. I got one when I was having shoulder issues and it is softy in that department but drops white tail.
I have one of those and it is not particularly light. No recoil but its like an 11 lb rifle but it does have 20 in ss barrel.
