Factory ammo for reloading brass

What factory ammo do you guys recommend to recycle brass from. I was thinking of going Norma for my 6.5 creed, as I’m not overly worried about quality of ammo more the price and the brass. Also is there anything I should avoid? Thanks

Berger loaded ammo gives you Lapua brass

Thanks Jim that would certainly be the best option. I just had a look online, it’s not very common is Australia the only place I can find it online the wholesaler who don’t give a rrp to the public . I’ll ask my local gun store but I’m guessing if it’s even available it will be mighty expensive. Out of curiosity precision hunter is about $100 aud a box which is about $65 usd how much would you guys expect to pay in the US?

Precision Hunter is $44 - $57 depending on the cartridge for us.

That’s about the difference I expected. Thanks for the insight.

Instead of relying on used brass from once fired ammo you can buy new Starline Brass in 6.5 Creedmoor for $148 for 250 pieces. As for factory brass I use either Federal or Nosler and shy away from anything from Hornady.

Unfortunately I can only get 50 packs of starline in Australia which work out to 1 usd per shell. Which is why I am leaning towards factory ammo.

As I can recall, Sako ammo had some quality brass.

Thanks for that thought the more good options I can get the better because availability is going to be my main issue

Is there a limit set by the government? 50 packs are the usual you find in retail stores. If you go direct to Starline, can they ship to you direct in quantities of 250 or 500 cases? Most people only go to their local gun shop and buy whatever they have on hand. Factory direct allows you to buy in larger quantities at more reasonable prices.

I’ll have to have a look on the starline website, I’d imagine there would be some difficulty getting it though customs plus a shipping fee the undermines all value. There aren’t any limits on brass just the small amount of gun owners in Australia plus the very small amount of rifles chambered in 6.5 creed makes demand for the brass quite low

Nope the website only allows shipping inside the US

Out of curiosity, what are the popular cartridges in Australia?

22 lr 17 hmr 22 mag are all pretty common in the rimfire department. 222, 223, 22-250 and 243, are about all you can buy ammo wise, where I am. Generally for culling rabbits, cats, foxes, goats, kangaroos and emus. I believe 308 is more popular in the eastern states with feral deer and pigs, plus I think the stations use them on camels. Around here a few people have 270s that they really like for there long range capabilities there’s a few 303 and 303-25 British left over from the war, and I know a few people with 25-06, 7 rem mag and 300 win mags. Forgot to mention 12 gauge is common too. Might be able to get 204 ammo as well I’ve never really looked for it. So basically older cartridges only unless your a “gun guy” or comp shooter and are able to reload.
