Jack I as well use hot hands in my boots for those cold days.
I get the “body warmer” size which is the King size of hot hands.
I open them up and place them on my truck dash when I am about 30-45minutes from my hunting spot.
Since they are air activated they are ready to be used and I place them across my toes and like you mentioned my feet stay toasty.

Trying to find a new boot now and it sucks. Everyone’s foot is different. Going to try on as many as I can. Tried most of the Crispi’s at Sportsman’s yesterday. Here’s my current list of boots I’ll be trying from Scheels and REI today. I also want to try at least a few of the Schnee’s just because I hear such good things. Fun times ahead!

I’ve got the Schnee Beartooth and love them.

My favorite pair so far are the Vivo Tracker Forest Esc. They are not as heavy duty as some of these others but weigh nothing and are flexible. Make sneaking around much easier and feel great all day if you are used to a more bearfoot type shoe

My first “mountaineering” style boot was the Crispi West River when they were still a Scheel’s exclusive. I actually still have them but only use them for late season treestand hunting. Wore a pair of Lowa Cevidales for the last 7 seasons, tossed them last winter as my foot has gotten wider over time somehow. Thanks to being HSA plan eligible I now have a pair of Lathrop Mountain Hunters with the custom insoles. They’re comfortable around town and what not, come September I’ll beat the snot out of them in the Beaverheads for a couple weeks and know more about value.
