I have been looking into Fierce Firearms. Super cool they are local. I am getting conflicting information on the quality of their rifles and the lack of customer service. Even Jim’s videos seem to be confusing a little bit. He has one video where he breaks down the lack of quality and precision you should expect to get from Fierce. The next video a year later he is reviewing a Fierce rifle and has nothing but amazing things to say about it and gives them a huge endorsement. I am considering getting a rifle with them. But for several thousand dollars, I would expect that thing to be 100 perfect in every way. Any insight would be extremely appreciated. Thank you guys.
It seems that they’re hit or miss. My Carbon Rival is absolutely fantastic. Probably my most consistent and accurate rifle. But I’ve also seen quite a bit of online criticism on their rifles and customer service. So I get what you’re saying because I had the same concerns when I bought mine last year.
I have a Mountain Reaper in 7mm PRC that has been great with moa shooting results so far. I’m trying to get out to a location where I can shoot it long distance.
I might add, if you’re going with something like the 7mm PRC, you might want to consider Jim’s recoil pad they really help with the recoil from the lighter weight rifles.
I have three now. The first two are awesome guns. The third one works well, very accurate. However, I don’t particularly like the stock design as there is just too little room between the grip and the trigger and because of that my knuckle runs into the bolt knob during firing. The bolt knob has very sharp edges.
It’s the one gun that I own which makes me bleed when I shoot it. I don’t particularly like bleeding when I go shooting.
I emailed the company and got a very quick response. They said they made a smooth bolt knob that they would sell to me. I called to place the order but apparently there’s only one person in the entire company that can do this for me and so far he hasn’t returned my call.
I thought about maybe replacing the stock with something else but everyone that I’ve contacted says they don’t make a stock that will fit a Fierce.
Yeah, that’s the thing with Fierce. When you get a good one, which is the case 90% of the time, they are GREAT. But we’ve had bad ones and definitely hear stories from you guys about getting bad ones, and they don’t do a great job taking care of the issues. Overall, I like Fierce. I generally recommend them, but I always have a little asterisk on the recommendation. But at that price point, I’m often pointing people to doing a custom instead, so you can control the final product.
What are you wanting to accomplish with this rifle, and what’s the price? Let’s see what a comparable build would cost.
I’m looking at purchasing a fierce mountain reaper would you recommend something else instead. What caliber would you recommend in the reaper
A reaper in 6.5 PRC is an absolutely fantastic gun. I love mine. There’s always a chance you won’t get a good one as I’ve mentioned about Fierce but it’ll probably be good, and if so you’ll love it.
I picked up a Fierce Carbon Rival in 6.5 PRC about a month ago. The fit and finish is perfect. No “consruction dust” at all. After seeing Jim’s Rival and the complaint he had, I thank him for pointing it out. I believe it made a difference. There was substantial attention to detail in the build I received.
I ordered the Fierce two-piece Picatinny rail so that I could gain clearance between the chamber and the scope, while reliably switching between a duplex reticle SFP scope and an FFP target scope without having to re-zero. I received that and rings within a week in Washington. Quick. I’ve also made a few phone calls which have been promptly answered by knowledgeable people, so at this point I’m in the pro-Fierce camp.
Just wish the flat spot in front of the mag well extended further so my Arca rail fit without making a filler plate. John - you listening?
I just received a 7 prc carbon rival. Dealt with Shawn Sorensen at fierce. He was great. I could have saved a little money from a local dealer but wanted a different scope and wanted their MOA service. I just figured if it wasn’t shooting to their expectations it would be fixed before they shipped it. So far so good it is accurate.
I’ve done time out on the range now. Visually bore sited, broke the barrel in using Fierce’s instructions. Was exactly on elevation-wise and 2-minutes right at 100 yrds.
Doing load development now. Was able to get .5 minute 3-rd group w/cold bore shot using Hornady Precision Hunter. Some opened up a bit but figured that was my fault. 2nd up was norma Match 143gr. On my 4th 3-rd group had a .35 inch group! Going back out this weekend for more.
I’d buy Fierce again.
I have a Fierce Carbon CT Edge in 300 WSM that is my absolute go to rifle for hunting. I shot a croc in Mozambique this fall at 120 yds, stoned it cold, never moved. The ammo/target it was sent with was Federal 165 Trophy bonded tip which is no longer available (at least I haven’t found it) so I used 165 TSX handloads. Back then they only guaranteed rifle to be MOA in .30 cal. I have fired hundreds upon hundreds of rounds thru this barrel and it still shoots well. The only issue I have had was with the scope mount. After years of reliable service, I missed a cous deer at 400 yds badly, several times because a screw in the scope base had become loose. There was no way to know until removing the scope however.l I now have a pic rail on this gun. FWIW I would buy another without hesitation.
I like hearing long term reviews like this. Sounds like a good rifle.
