I believe I’ve narrowed down my next gun purchase to either a MTN Reaper or Carbon Rival. I’d love to hear everyone’s experience (pros/cons) with each.
I’m looking to make this my primary all-arounder. We live in Las Vegas, NV so western backcountry is our primary adventure, but we do go back to west Texas every year for deer and hogs.
Matthew I was looking at these as well in 300 PRC.
I went with the Reaper for one the looks.
It is order so I have no experience with it but when it comes in I will post my thoughts on pros/cons.
I asked about the Reaper in an earlier post you can read as well.
I have the mountain reaper in 300 PRC I have never shot the carbon rival but I was looking at it as well as Bergarra MG Lite. I choose the Mountain Reaper I was at the range yesterday and shot .38” group with precision hunter 212gr, when I did my part without pulling any shots. It is light weight, I love the ergonomics, I shoot with a CGS Hyperion suppressor and reduces recoil while maintains accuracy. I shot .37” group with the muzzle break but damn that rifle is loud. I would totally recommend the mountain reaper II love the arcs Swiss rail for attaching to a tripod near the balence point of the rifle just forward of the mag to increase stability when shooting off tripod. The only thing I don’t love about tit is the magazine has movement in it. However, it has never had a single feeding issue. Metal high quality magazine. The titanium action many say they are sticky, when brand new it was a little sticky but broke in quickly and is butter smooth.
Yes, that’s a great point. I do keep an eye on Cabelas/Bass Pro amd Sportsman’s Warehouse, but I haven’t seen either the MTN Reaper or Rival in 7mm PRC hit the shelves yet, much to my dismay….
Matthew I purchased one of the Reaper rifles from the “In Stock” selection and asked for the Long Range package.
I was told it would ship in 10-14 days and it is coming up to the 14 days.
If they are able to ship the completed package I should have it this week or next.
Just an fyi they are having a Reaper sale giving away a “Free” hard sided rifle case.
I ended up going with the Mtn Reaper in 7 PRC. Finally got to go out and get it zeroed yesterday and it was amazing. I’m a relatively new shooter when it comes to this long distance game and even I was able to get sub MOA groups at 100 and 200 yds without any problem. Had a little trouble getting dopes at 300 and 800 but drilled 1100 on the first shot!
I didn’t need another addictive and expensive hobby in my life but looks like I got one.
Nice! I am waiting on mine in the 7prc as well believe it goes into production this week or the following. What length barrel did you go with and what scope did you put on it?
Nice! I ordered mine with 20” barrel as well putting a suppressor on mine whenever the atf decides to get around to approving my paperwork. Prolly be putting a Huskemaw scope on mine
After a long wait I just received my Reaper in 300 PRC.
I was told if I ordered one off the shelf, I would have it in 10-14 days but that proved to be incorrect.
It took over 160 days from time I placed the ordered till it was at my gun shop.
I really didn’t mind the wait but Fierce needs to work on their customer service as I tried to contact them with no avail for weeks and no return call, so I had to have my gun shop hound them till we got an answer on where the rifle was.
I say this just to let you know if you order your rifle factory direct just be prepared to wait for delivery.
The rifle looks and feels fantastic in the hand, and I hope to get out and shoot it soon and see how well the groups are.
